Five GO-OLD rings
And a partridge-less wonky pear tree!
Let’s face it; this is the line we all love to belch out, right?
And yes, of course it’s only one ring; I think it would look ridiculous with five wedding rings, really – or at best it would imply some sort of illegal polygamy practice.
It’s a simple band of white gold with the Flâneur Husband’s actual name engraved on the inside along with our wedding date – September 4th 2010 – and I only take it off when painting. Sometimes it gets a bit muddy, but hey; that washes off easily and for the dirtiest jobs I tend to wear gloves anyway.
(When we originally had the engraving done, the jeweller had mixed up the names so my name was in my ring and the Flâneur Husband’s was in his ring; I guess they aren’t used to same-sex wedding rings in that shop… However, they fixed it very quickly, so there was no harm done.)
Very similar to my own. I wanted something I could wear all the time and even my engagement ring has the diamond set within the ring so it doesn’t stick up, meaning I can wear that all the time too. I didn’t see the point in getting one I could only wear on special occasions. Loving the 12 days of Christmas posts. 🙂
When we went to buy the rings it just seemed the most sensible to pick the plainest bands; that way they will never go out of style, and also they seem to just become a natural part of your hand.
I never take mine off either, except for the odd thing. And then, if I can get away with putting it on a different finger I will. Such attachments are…? I don’t know, but I do question why I do this.
Personally I hardly ever take mine off, simply because it’s easier to loose a ring once it’s off the finger… And loosing it is clearly not an option – I think I’d become very unpopular at home if I lost it!
