-And I just can’t hide it!
A very good friend of mine is getting married in 15 days and tomorrow is her hen night. And it will be hosted in The Flâneur Apartment!
I’m going to cook my ass off to make sure she has a lovely meal and a perfect evening. I got up this morning and started rubbing salt, thyme and bay leaves into raw duck thighs, for Christ’s sake… I’m going all in, as much or perhaps even more than last Christmas.
There will be afternoon snacks (bruschetti with a variety of toppings), a starter of home-made ravioli, a mains of home-made confit of duck with trimmings, a salad course, a cheese course and a dessert of various home-made chocolate truffles.
Claire of Promenade Plantings recently advertised for guest bloggers during her vacation, so you will be able to see most of the recipes and their results on her blog on October 6th, the day my friend is getting married. Why on HER blog, you ask? Well, her blog has a mix of gardening and foodie stuff, so it somehow seems to fit in with her style better than with mine. (I will, though, remind you to visit her blog when the date arrives…)
Also, I thought it would be fun to write something to be read by people who don’t normally see my entries. After all, if you like writing you most likely enjoy reaching a variety of readers, so having the chance to present my words to her readers really seems like a privilege.
Anyway, her blog is worth a visit with or without my guest entry, so go no. Did I mention it was promenadeplantings.com?

Sounds like a great night. All that food sounds amazing, your friend’s a lucky girl. Looking forward to the post. I’m always on the lookout for some new recipes. I’m particularly taken by the home-made ravioli. I mentioned to hubby I’d like to make my own pasta. Jeez I don’t know when but it would be still good to give it a try. Have a great night and not too bad a hangover tomorrow.
It was a great evening; I was stressing out up to the point where the girls arrived, and then it was smooth sailing from then on. (I had to make some minor adjustments along the way, but most things turned out the way I intended. And there are leftovers… YAY!)
I can feel the excitement from here! Wishing you all the best and that your well laid plans and preparation go swimmingly. And I can’t wait to read all about it
And thanks for the mention, the guest blogs are going to be fantasic – all different but all wonderful !!
I was stressing a bit on Saturday morning, but when the girls arrived at 2:30pm I had the snacks ready and most of the prepping done – and I could finish the rest while a make-up artist gave them a course in how to do stuff with eye liners and blush and other stuff that I don’t really take too much of an interest in…
(I kept forgetting to take pictures, though, so to my husband’s delight I will have to re-make some of the dishes during this week. He’s especially looking forward to the ravioli…)
What a good friend you are, to do such a fabulous party! Food is magic you know– I expect it will be a happy marriage.
Good friends deserve good food… And lots of it! Also, as it turned out, the bride-to-be has become pregnant since they planned the date for the wedding, so it was a good thing I didn’t just count on getting everybody drunk and have an alcohol-fuelled evening of dancing and bar-hopping!
Yum, sounds delicious. After the feast, I hope you are having a happy birthday, Soren.
The wedding was on the 6th, so on my birthday two days after I was still feeling somewhat hungover… It was a great party, but it takes a while for one’s body to recover!
