With my husband home on a long-awaited 2-weeks holiday, finding time for blogging has not been one of my top priorities. However, I just wanted to share some pictures of the beans in the vegetable garden; some have been eaten by slugs, but most have survived and are now blooming with the prettiest little purple flowers…
I will post more when I am once again a grass (or garden?) widower…

Beans are too underrated as ornamentals–even the stems on yours are really lovely. For the first time this year I’m trying Chinese long beans. The flowers aren’t particularly attractive, but the beans themselves grow 4 inches or more a day. (Why should that be so entertaining?) Enjoy the rest of the holiday with your husband!
On this trellis I have green haricot beans on one side and purple haricots on the other, which accounts for the difference in colour of both stems and flowers. I bet the purple haricots will look great when they ripen!
Very lovely…I also like how your trellis is very natural looking too. and THANK YOU for your zucchini recipe! I’m planning on trying it…sounds delicious.
The trellis – like so many other things in our garden – is based on the principle of “what have we got lying around?”… So bamboo canes and string it was! It’s wonky as anything, but sturdy enough to last the season.
As for the recipe, you’re welcome.
Have fun with the honey. I like your teepee for the beans. The flowers are why I grow beans, but we eat the beans too.
I love beans, and I look forward to these purple beans. They will – I’m sure – look great in a bean salad!
